Ten years ago, I was a sick, swollen mess who had tried everything  to lose weight to get the figure I thought I'd be happy with.

Thanks to extreme diets, binge eating, and a “toxic relationship” with food, I almost died instead.

When I left the hospital a decade ago, still half-bloated from the edema that had blown me up like a balloon, I would never have believed the story I’m about to share with you…


Like every girl in their mid 20s, my life goals were simple: to get lose weight, then stay lean and attractive.

Unfortunately, life had other plans for me…

Because ever since I was a kid, I loved food. In fact, I loved food waaaaaay too much.

You hear about women drinking guys under the table. Well, I could EAT anyone under the table.

Even today, I’m not proud of that - but it was part of who I was (and still am, if I’m not careful).

But eating big means big calories, and my mid-20s metabolism couldn’t keep up with what I was putting away.

Before I knew it, I was staring at myself in the mirror and poking my pudgy midriff, feeling depressed and desperate.

So I did what any young woman would: go on a diet.

I used the models in fitness mags as inspiration. Exercise was my religion. Eating like a bird was my life.

Little did I know the spiral I was starting to fall into.

The thing is, this worked… for a week or two. The numbers on the scale dropped a few pounds and dieting seemed almost easy.

Then one night in front of the fridge, I slipped up - big time. That was the end of my diet… and the start of something much worse.

Over the next few years, serial yo-yo dieting became my lifestyle. I badly wanted to be thin, and kept wondering what was wrong with me.

Diet after diet came and went, and I found myself doing things like…

  • Living on just chicken and broccoli day after day
  • Alternating between whipped up egg whites and protein shakes for meals (I'd clean out CVS and Walgreens buying all their eggs!)
  • Following the lemon, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper diet (yep, that's a thing)

But NOTHING worked for more than a few weeks - and nothing kept the weight off for long.

As each diet failed and the weight piled back on, the self-loathing and disgust felt heavier and heavier. I had no self-control over my eating and was stuck in a “toxic relationship” with food.

My wardrobe stored clothes in basically every size, because that’s how much weight would change due to those diets and bad eating habits.

But worse was to come…

Having had no luck with diets, I became borderline bulimic. Who am I kidding - I WAS bulimic.

I went from “Well, I messed up - may as well eat everything and reset tomorrow” to “Screwed up again - I’m going to stuff my face, then throw it all up”.

That’s how life was for the next few months.

Nobody knew about my dark secret, not even my boyfriend. I would gobble up a mountain of snacks (usually bought from CVS), but then replace them before he noticed they were gone.

I would get everything I wanted to eat in one sitting: Oreos, Crunchy Cheese Curls, and Pop Tarts.

Of course, I knew it was horribly wrong. I even googled for ways to stop bulimia.

Story after story spoke about how repeated vomiting eroded your teeth, ate away your esophagus, and even about the risk of throwing up an organ. But as terrifying as that was, it didn’t change anything.

My "all or nothing" approach to dieting got even more extreme, to the point I almost died...

When someone wildly seesaws between 4000 calorie binges to practically starving yourself to malnourishment, something’s got to give… and it did.

Without warning, I blew up like a human balloon and gained 33lbs of fluid in a matter of days.

The medical term for the condition is "Anasarca." All I knew is that I was bloated beyond recognition.

(This is a photo of me half deflated after one of the doctors put me on diuretics. It was twice as bad as this.)

​Thankfully, what I didn't know at the time was that if any of that fluid seeped into my brain, I was dead.  (Ignorance is bliss, hey?)

Doctor after doctor couldn’t explain it - and none of them could help me.

The worst part was everyone just thought I’d suddenly put on a stack of weight.

When I went to the gym, I kept my hospital band on my wrist to let everyone know I had a freaking medical condition! But it didn’t stop the stares or sniggers.

One day, one of my best friends - Julia - literally walked right by me like I was a complete stranger. In my miserable state, I was almost happy she didn’t recognize me.

Later, someone at the gym told me she’d taken me for my fat sister.

Why "Weight Loss" Programs Always Let Me Down


After my near “death by edema”, I spent weeks researching and talking to coaches. The more I did, the more I realized just how wrong 99% of mainstream dieting was for me. Yes, they can be done right - but they rarely are. All that most weight loss programs do is send people down an unhealthy path. 

These were the 2 big problems I found wrong with typical diets

  1. Making certain foods "off limits"  (such as completely cutting out carbs) can sometimes set the stage for a destructive relationship with food. This is how I ended up with severe eating disorders.

    I'd spend weeks avoiding sugary treats, thinking this was the way. But then I'd crack, binge my favorite snacks... and be right back where I started, if not worse.

    The research (which I didn't know at the time) confirms what I went through: an all-or-nothing approach is actually associated with overeating and weight gain, NOT weight loss!

  2. We focus on just the weight or see it as a "willpower" or "discipline" battle we have to win. But it was only so much later that I realized the reason my eating was so screwed up was because my thinking was screwed up.

It finally dawned on me: it was dieting that had almost killed me...

And with that, everything changed and life was amazing… I wish.

Knowing extreme diets and starvation had played havoc on my body, weight, and confidence was one thing. Reversing the damage was another.

But I made a commitment to myself: I would do whatever it took to eat right.

Weight loss wasn’t going to be my focus any more - living healthy was.

And this is how I’d start…

Step 1: throw out all the junk hiding in my cupboard and fridge.

Step 2: ignore YouTube and magazines and talk with people who really knew about nutrition.

Step 3: build a plan and get whatever support I could find to stick to it.

So that’s what I did…

And I got almost instant results, as my body soaked up vitamins and nutrients it had lacked for months. Plus, the change in diet saw a glut of water weight and fat fall off my body over those first few weeks.

But I wasn’t done there.

The next step was to reintroduce my body to exercise. But this time, I wasn’t going to run myself into the ground or spend hours with cardio.

The experts I’d spoken with recommended weight training as a way to not just help your body burn more fat, but tone it up. So with a bit of help, I mapped out a basic program - then went to work.

To tell you the truth, working out was the easy part! The challenge for me was maintaining a routine of a healthy diet for month after month. 

Deep down, I felt there had to be a better way... I just didn't know what it was yet.

(Little did I know all this was slowly leading me closer and closer to finding that "better way").

Somehow I pushed through, spurred on by my near-death experience.

And just 5 or 6 weeks later, my body looked almost unrecognizable...

Not only had the bloating and puffiness vanished, but so had my cravings. I had more energy than I'd had in years, and when I finally braved a look in the mirror, almost squealed in delight!

For the first time ever, I had muscle reshaping my figure, fat melting off, and my confidence shooting sky-high.

But for all my progress, doubt still lingered. Would I be able to hold onto my new lifestyle and body… or would I slip up like I always had?

This time, I took action before that danger could rear its ugly head. I hired a mindset coach to work through the doubts and temptations.

As my mindset changed, I realized how powerful this stuff was. For years, I’d tried to “willpower” my way through diets… and every time it ended with me stuffed to the gills on Oreos, Twix Bars, or Pop Tarts.

Changing my toxic mindset around food unlocked even more progress… but I wanted more.

To push my boundaries, I hired pro bodybuilding coaches to fine tune my eating and training. I studied health and fitness obsessively, earning certifications in nutrition and mindset.

What Happened When I Finally Turned Things Around...


After years of agonizing frustration and struggle, things slowly changed once I discovered how to really eat and exercise.

Over the years, that original discovery led me to not just more energy, better health, kick-ass fitness, and a kicking figure, but it changed who I was. I became a…

The Figure Division is the most feminine version of bodybuilding, but still demands a super-lean, super-toned physique that ripples with muscle.

This meant next level eating and exercise to shave my body fat down to 10%. My body and mind were pushed to new limits to prepare for the competition.

Looking back, it was a fantastic test of the philosophy I’d developed over the last six months and to see how far I’d come.

So did everything work out?

You bet your ass it did!

Just stepping on the stage and feeling like I belonged was incredible. Even better, I finished in the top 5 in my first show and qualified nationally

Though I way overdid it on the tanning!

But even after all that, there was still one big problem...

I now knew how to transform my sick, overweight body into a kick-ass physique. And I knew what to do to become mentally and physically stronger than I’d ever been.

But the strict bodybuilding regime of diet and exercise was far too hard to stay on forever. This led to my next challenge:

What was the best way to eat for everyday life while being able to build (and keep) a strong, sculpted figure?

After months of strict dieting and disciplined training, trying to find the balance flat-out sucked.

I had to step back, analyze everything I’d learned, and find something that was realistically doable, flexible enough to survive everyday life, but still got results.

After months of work, I finally built what I called The Peak Body Accelerator.

Up till now, it had been tested on exactly one person: me.

Over the next few months, I shared it with family and friends to see the kinds of results they would get.
